New Feeding Station

22nd March 2009
The new feeding station at the Farm has now been completed.

Feeders have been erected in strategic places in the copse. Nyger seeds for the Goldfinches, Sunflower Hearts for the Tits and peanuts for the Woodpeckers.

Recent avian visitors have included: Greater Spotted Woodpecker, Green Woodpecker, Goldfinch, Long Tail Tit, Coal Tit, Great Tit, Blue Tit, Robin and the ever present Chaffinch.

The Greater Spotted Woodpecker is vary wary at the moment, but the Green Woodpecker has come close to the hide in fact too close! My 500mm lens could not focus on it.

I have heard a cock Pheasant calling close by and a Buzzard whistling in the distance.

The local Hawk has also put in an appearance, although not in the area of the feeders and hopefuly it won't come too close.

I have only taken pictures of the birds on the feeders as I am still trying to get them to land on the perch that I have provided............easier said than done!
